$3.5 Trillion Spending and Infrastructure Bill H.R.3684 - Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

Must Make Room for Parking

Truck parking funding denied by House infrastructure committee

On Tuesday, Sept. 14, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a markup hearing for its portion of the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill. With the original bill excluding truck parking, Rep. Mike Bost, R-Ill., introduced an amendment that would have allocated $1 billion specifically for truck parking. However, the amendment was voted down.

Rep. Bost’s amendment would have provided $1 billion over the next five years for projects that would have increase truck parking capacity. In order to pay for Bost’s amendment, it would have taken $1 billion of the $3 billion allocated for the Federal Highway Administration’s grants for carbon reduction projects that are also in the overall $3.5 trillion bill.

CDLDU has researchers finding the most ridiculous Pork in the Bill that totals $1 billion or more. We will create a campaign for Congress to remove this wasteful spending. We do not want our tax dollars spent on these projects but on Trucking Parking where job safety and the costs of delivery of goods to American consumers keep rising for no good reason.

Petition to Meera Joshi - FMCSA

Driver HOS Exemption for Sleeper Tractors

With NO Relief coming soon for Truck Parking! Since Congress does not want to allocate funds in 2021 Spending Bill H.R.3684, Truckers need to be given relief without suffering a loss of income.

The FMCSA has acknowledged numerous times that Driver stress and fatigue are safety issues and a cause in many accidents.  Also, it has been documented the loss of carrier and Driver income due to taking delivery time to find parking.

CDLDU researchers are preparing a petition that will be demanding a 1 hour HOS exemption for drivers of sleeper tractors.
